Peter Pevensie

[[File:3784.jpg|left]]Peter and his three younger siblings are sent away to Professor Kirke's house in the country because of the air raids of World War II. The Pevensies' adventures begin when Peter suggests that they explore the rambling old house. When his youngest sister Lucy claims to have found another world that could be entered through a wardrobe, Peter and the others do not believe her story. But when they stumble into Narnia through the wardrobe while hiding from a troop of visitors, Peter is the first to apologize to Lucy for not believing her, and names her their guide there. They set out to explore, but soon realize that Narnia is a dangerous land under its tyrant, the White Witch. More disconcerting still are the prophecies that say four human children will deliver Narnia from its oppressor. Soon the Pevensies are drawn into the struggle to free Narnia from the White Witch and to save their brother Edmund from his treachery. As the eldest, Peter is given a leadership role as he learns from Aslan that he is to be High King over Narnia when the Witch is overthrown, and that he will be leading the army against her in the coming battle. Having received a sword (later called "Rhindon") and a red shield from Father Christmas, Peter is forced to use his weapons for the first time when one of the Witch's spies, the Wolf Maugrim, enters the army camp. Though his courage is tested, Peter conquers his fear and displays bravery as he fights and kills the Wolf. In recognition of his brave deed, Aslan names him Sir Peter Wolf's-Bane (and tells him to never forget to clean his sword). At the Battle of Beruna, Peter leads the Narnians against the White Witch's army and fights the Witch herself. When the battle is won, Peter is crowned High King in Cair Paravel and becomes known as King Peter the Magnificent.

[[File:3786.jpg|left]]Peter and his siblings are pulled from an English railway platform and into Narnia when Caspian sounds Queen Susan's horn. Once there, Peter deduces that they are in the ruins of their old castle, Cair Paravel. Peter's theory is confirmed when they discover the ancient treasure chamber, where he recovers the gifts he received from Father Christmas. After saving Trumpkin and hearing the Dwarf's story of Caspian, the rightful king of Narnia, Peter leads the group across Glasswater and through the Black Woods to come to Caspian's aid. But Narnia has changed in the centuries that the Pevensies have been away, and they lose their way. Although Lucy claims to see Aslan beckoning them to take another path, Peter and the others do not see Him, and Peter's vote determines that they do not follow the Lion's supposed trail. However, the next night, when Lucy tells them that she will follow Aslan alone if they will not come, Peter agrees to follow her. Soon he is also catching glimpses of the Lion who is leading them, and they come to their destination, Aslan's How. After joining Caspian, Peter decides to send Miraz a challenge to single combat rather than pit the small Narnian army against the much larger Telmarine forces. Miraz accepts Peter's challenge, and they fight for the rulership of Narnia. After Miraz is killed by one of his own lords and treachery unleashes the Telmarine army against the Narnians, Peter leads his army to victory in the second Battle of Beruna. At the end of this adventure, before Aslan sends them home, Peter and Susan are told that they will not be coming back to Narnia because they are too old.

[[File:3774.jpg|left]]Peter and the other friends of Narnia are gathered together on Earth when King Tirian suddenly appears before them. Peter tries to speak to him, but Tirian fades away before he can respond. They all sense that something is wrong, and decide to recover the magic rings so that Eustace and Jill can go back to Narnia to help. Peter and Edmund go to Digory's old house in London and, disguised as workmen, dig up the rings. Peter then sends a message to Eustace and Jill telling them to meet him so he could give them the rings. But as their train is approaching, Peter notices that the train seemed to be taking the bend too quickly. Then there is a frightful roar, and Peter and the others find themselves in another world. High King Peter welcomes Tirian to their company after Tirian throws himself through the stable door. When night falls on Narnia, Aslan asks Peter to close the door. Peter does so, effectively ending the Old Narnia. Peter goes "further up and further in" with the others as Aslan leads them to His country.

==About==

Peter is the eldest of the four Pevensies and the High King of Narnia. As the High King, Peter leads both his siblings and the country of Narnia well — though not without occasional errors. It is interesting to note that in Peter's two trips to Narnia, he confesses a failure to Aslan in their initial meeting. In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, he expresses his guilt to Aslan after Edmund's betrayal, saying, "That was partly my fault, Aslan. I was angry with him and I think that helped him to go wrong." In Prince Caspian, when Aslan finally becomes visible to all the Pevensies and Trumpkin, Peter drops to his knees and says, "Oh, Aslan, I'm so glad. And I'm so sorry. I've been leading them wrong ever since we started and especially yesterday morning." But like any great leader, Peter learns from his mistakes and is able to lead Narnia to great victories. His reign is known as the Golden Age of Narnia.
