He is a skilled seaman who knows his work, and as first mate, Rhince is trusted with the ship on many occasions while [[Drinian]] goes ashore with [[Caspian]] and the others. Rhince appears to come from a lower class than [[Drinian]]. Because of his common origins and uneducated speech, Rhince seems to represent the crew among the higher-born company.
