[[File:3784.jpg|left]]Mrs. Macready is the housekeeper at Professor Kirke's home in the country. In addition to managing the staff there, she also gives tours of the mansion (which is very old and famous). She is unhappy that the Pevensies have come to stay there during the war and firmly instructs them to keep out of her way. One morning the Pevensies hear Mrs. Macready and a large group of people on one of her tours. They try to hide from the group, but no matter where they go, the visitors are always one step behind them. Mrs. Macready leads the tour right up to the spare room where the Pevensies hide in the wardrobe, but stops outside. When the Pevensies come out of the wardrobe (after a grand adventure), they can hear Mrs. Macready and the visitors talking outside, where no time has passed.
