About Trumpkin
-
Trumpkin is a practical thinker. He does not initially believe the stories about Aslan and the four kings and queens. But out of loyalty to Caspian, his king, he volunteers to journey to the Stone Table and seek the help he does not believe will come. "I might as well die on a wild goose chase as die here," he says. Trumpkin has been told all his life that the woods surrounding Cair Paravel were "as full of ghosts as they were of trees." So he is quite relieved when he sees that it is the four Pevensies, flesh and blood, who have rescued him. It is his idea to make use of the fishing tackle in the boat, and the Pevensies are glad to be eating something beside apples. Trumpkin is evidently one of Caspian's most trusted friends, as Caspian leaves him as Lord Regent in his place both times the king sets sail on the Dawn Treader.
